Chapter 19: Gentle Reunion
ou think about it this way, Chu Brother must have had connections with Red Pavilion for a long time! It's possible that Auntie from the Chu Family married someone from Red Pavilion back then too! So i...Chapter 19 Gentle Reunion
Yun Qianyue's voice was incredibly soft and warm, seemingly hiding deep longing and affection.
Nan Lingrui paused in his step behind her, rolled his eyes, and grumbled, "She really can't be left at home."
Ignoring him, Yun Qianyue walked forward. She thought it was only a few days since she last saw Rong Jing; she missed him terribly and wished she could fly back to him. After two steps, she heard Nan Lingrui lazily dragging his feet behind her with a steady patter on the ground. She turned to Hua Luo and asked, "Where are the Nan Liang envoy's troops now"
"From our information, they're still in Yun City," replied Hua Luo.
"So!" Yun Qianyue looked back at Nan Lingrui and suggested, "Brother, why don't you stay here Wait for the envoy's troops to arrive before returning. You can rest too; otherwise, you'll be running around again after coming back home. Besides, it’s so close to Phoenix Pass that once you cross, you’re already in Nan Liang territory."
"No!" Nan Lingrui shook his head.
"Aren’t you tired" Yun Qianyue raised an eyebrow.
"Not anymore!" The sound of Nan Lingrui's footsteps immediately softened.
Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes; she didn't want to part from her brother either. They’d just have to travel together as long as possible, then!
The trio returned to the main hall and had lunch. Hua Luo was already prepared for departure, leaving Mo Tian Ya with reluctance. As Yun Qianyue descended the mountain on a vine, she thought that this place truly felt like heaven on earth but didn’t know when she could come back here again. However, it wasn't suitable for her right now; she had been destined to be entangled in the secular world.
After descending Mo Tian Ya, Han Lao was already waiting with horses. The trio mounted up and raced back along their original route.
Arriving at Phoenix Pass, Yun Qianyue couldn’t resist stopping again. Mountains stretched endlessly like a phoenix perched there. She recalled the young man in his simple robes standing on Phoenix Pass, holding off 150,000 elite troops of the Heavenly Saint army alone. How breathtakingly charming he was! No matter when she reached Phoenix Pass later in life, she would feel admiration for that person and immense pride that he was her father.
"Little girl, come on! What's there to look at" Nan Lingrui knew what Yun Qianyue was thinking; his expression almost made him jealous of the man called 'father' as well.
"How can it not be worth looking at It’s much better than watching a love-sick prince like you," Yun Qianyue glanced at Nan Lingrui, squeezed her horse's flanks with her legs and galloped off towards Qing Shan City.
Nan Lingrui was infuriated but could only follow on his horse in a sour mood as she had ridden far ahead.
Hua Luo watching the two from behind thought it funny how Yun Qianyue and Prince Nan were both unlike siblings and yet so much like them.
From Phoenix Pass to Qing Shan City, their journey was unobstructed. Upon entering Qing Shan City at nightfall, Nan Lingrui wanted to rest but Yun Qianyue kept riding through the city’s south gate and north gate towards Qi City.
Hua Luo naturally followed her lead on horseback without complaint.
Nan Lingrui was helpless; he could only follow too as they galloped under the starlight toward Qi City.
About halfway through the night, they reached Qi City. Nan Lingrui had long since tired out and slumped on his horse. Yun Qianyue continued riding into town but didn't stop at all; instead, she headed for the north gate to continue their journey.
"Yun Qianyue!" Nan Lingrui couldn’t take it anymore and shouted angrily, but even his anger sounded weak.
Yun Qianyue pulled her horse's reins, turned back to look at him. Seeing him curled like a prawn on the saddle with a pale face, she felt sorry for him. Glancing at the quiet streets, she saw all lights in Qi City were off; even if she continued riding non-stop until dawn, they wouldn’t reach Yun City by then. They still had to pass Lan City and Feng City between here and Yun City! Besides, although she could handle it, Nan Lingrui couldn't anymore. Hua Luo was also looking exhausted though she didn't say anything. So, deciding against pushing on further, Yun Qianyue turned her horse around and said to Nan Lingrui's aggrieved expression, "Let’s rest here tonight."
"Stinking girl, at least you have a heart left; remember not to leave your brother starved or exhausted," Nan Lingrui grumbled feebly.
"It's still early. You could wait for the envoy’s troops here as well," Yun Qianyue replied.
"Then, did I suffer by following you from noon yesterday until now in the middle of the night for nothing" Nang Lingrui was somewhat indignant. "Smelly girl, do you know what it means to be reserved Women need to be reserved! Look at your anxious expression, when you meet that little rascal Rong Jing, he must be glad to see you! You're such a disappointment!"
"I haven't been disappointing for just one or two days," Yun Qianmo was unconcerned. She simply wanted to see Rong Jing as soon as possible and didn't think of herself as disappointing. Even if she was, so be it! Did their love have to compete to determine who was better
"Don't ever say that you're my sister to others again! I can't afford to lose face!" Nang Lingrui grumbled.
Yun Qianmo ignored him and said to Hua Luo, "Let's go back to Drunken Fragrance Pavilion."
Hua Luo nodded and spurred his horse towards the Drunken Fragrance Pavilion. Yun Qianmo followed behind Hua Luo, while Nang Lingrui was still sprawled on his horse’s back, letting it carry him forward. All three horses were drenched in sweat but they remained spirited.
Upon arriving at the Drunken Fragrance Pavilion, the trio dismounted and a servant immediately came to greet them. Yun Qianmo tossed aside the reins of her horse and entered the pavilion.
Although it was late at night, the Drunken Fragrance Pavilion remained brightly lit with dozens of guests present, both men and women, about ten tables in total. Yun Qianmo glanced around the room to see many people looking over at them. When their gazes met, some were momentarily stunned before they looked away while others lowered their heads immediately. She then turned her gaze back towards the innkeeper and asked with a ring in her hand, "Do you have rooms available, Innkeeper"
"Yes, yes... How many guests are there" The innkeeper recognized Yun Qianmo’s earring and hurriedly asked.
"Three!" Yun Qianmo replied.
"Alright then, three guests... Please follow me upstairs." After glancing at Hua Luo and Nang Lingrui, the innkeeper led them up.
Yun Qianmo followed behind the innkeeper as they ascended to the second floor. Nang Lingrui, looking somewhat lethargic, dragged his feet while following Yun Qianmo upstairs, swaying with each step. Hua Luo came last and upon glancing at the people seated in the main hall downstairs, he too made his way up.
Just as they reached the second floor, the innkeeper immediately stopped walking and whispered, "Master, those people downstairs have been waiting for you two days now. Could it be that they are here to see you I received news from Lan Cheng Lirong two days ago saying that the three of you offended someone. Just a while ago, I saw them looking anxious when your horses galloped past. Now that you three have arrived, could it be that they are waiting for you specifically"
"It’s fine! Take me to Room T101 then!" Yun Qianmo said.
The innkeeper wanted to say something more but seeing Yun Qianmo looking calm and collected, he decided against it and continued leading them up the stairs.
They arrived at the third floor and passed by Room T202. Yun Qianmo glanced over but did not linger as she walked on ahead without any fuss. Nang Lingrui also briefly looked at Room T202 before smiling, seemingly having recalled something with a look of amusement. Hua Luo followed behind and gave Room T202 another glance, his mind filled with caution.
Arriving outside of Room T101, the innkeeper opened the door for them. Yun Qianmo took a quick look inside before giving the innkeeper some instructions. The innkeeper then promptly ran downstairs. She walked straight to the table and turned around its mirror, revealing the scene in Room T202.
Nang Lingrui and Hua Luo quickly joined her.
In Room T202 was a young man of about twenty years old with a handsome appearance. He sat at a desk with several exquisite dishes arranged neatly in front of him, a pair of chopsticks, a teapot, and a tea cup on the table, but no alcohol could be seen. At this moment, he slowly savored his tea, having already drunk half of it from the cup. Even though he was alone in the room, he maintained proper etiquette with an elegant demeanor; there were no untoward acts.
"I thought she would be Lady Lan but turns out to be a smelly man!" Nang Lingrui turned away and walked towards a soft couch. After taking two steps, he collapsed on it.
Yun Qianmo believed that Nang Lingrui was indeed under the influence of poison, though she supposed he had forgotten about Ye Qian too.
"Young Master, this young man should be from one of the Ten Great Families," Hua Luo said softly after observing the young man for a moment.
"Mm-hmm!" Yun Qianmo nodded. The Ten Great Families were prominent clans from hundreds of years ago with strict rules for their children’s conduct and behavior, which was evident in his mannerisms. However, she did not know which family this person belonged to.
"I noticed that besides Feng Family and Lan Family being closely connected, the Cang Family is also among them," Hua Luo said. "Did you notice a small line of words below the secret books and notes of the Cang Family It states that their young master has a close relationship with Lan Family’s young master."
"I did see it!" Yun Qianmo suddenly smiled. She was right to have selected Hua Luo, who was indeed very perceptive and intelligent. Observing the young man in front of her, she said, "So this is Cang Ting from the Cang Family; no wonder he resembles Cang Lan a bit and also looks equally handsome. It’s true that the Cang, Feng, and Hua families produce beautiful men. Could it be that he was invited by Lan Yi to assist in reclaiming the Southern Frontier Seal we stole"
"It is possible!" Hua Luo replied.
Yun Qianyue smiled and said, "It'll be easier to handle once I know who he is!"
Falling Flowers didn't speak. At this moment, the shopkeeper walked in with several workers carrying food and hot water buckets. The steam from the hot water was rising, and the dishes were arranged on the table one by one. The shopkeeper ordered a young apprentice to place two large wooden barrels inside the room and another barrel outside the small room. Then he quietly closed the door and left.
Before leaving the mirror, Yun Qianyue went to the soft bed and kicked Nan Lingrui with her feet, "Quickly go take a bath!"
"Tired," Nan Lingrui said in one word.
"You're weak! I'm not going to call someone to serve you Hurry up and wash yourself!" Yun Qianyue kicked him again lightly.
Nan Lingrui remained lying on the soft bed without moving.
"No bath, no food!" Yun Qianyue threw out a sentence before taking some quick-drying clothes from her bag and walking behind the screen.
Nan Lingrui mumbled something and finally stood up, heading into the inner room. Falling Flowers did not go in but instead covered for them.
Yun Qianyue washed quickly and soon came out, nodding at Falling Flowers who walked in after her. She sat down by the table, picked up chopsticks to eat while looking at the young man in the mirror. She thought that his inherent noble elegance wasn't something anyone could easily acquire.
Soon, Nan Lingrui and Falling Flowers came out one after another. Even after bathing, Nan Lingrui still looked unenergetic, with a tired expression on his face. After finishing their meal, the man continued to savor tea. Nan Lingrui had already stumbled into the room and fallen asleep. Yun Qianyue yawned lightly and said to Sitting Flower who remained seated at the table, "All of us are going to sleep."
"Young Master, I can stay awake; you and Prince Zhuang rest. I will guard to prevent any unforeseen events," Falling Flowers replied.
Yun Qianyue shook her head with a smile, "No need. Nothing unusual will happen tonight."
"It doesn't seem like that. These people are obviously after us," Falling Flowers said.
"There's a strategy called creating an illusion and another term known as being overly cautious; Blue Ripple or Azure Pavilion must be well-versed in military tactics. She probably knows our whereabouts, calculating that even if we leave Lan City to the south, it would take some time before returning. Therefore, she had someone report back her way with us only staying around Phoenix Pass and not heading further south, while returning based on the distance from Phoenix Pass to other cities, estimating human endurance limits after a long ride, leading to our stopping here for rest, thus having people wait here. Upon seeing those below, we would be overly cautious and unable to rest well; upon resuming travel tomorrow, we would feel exhausted, with her intercepting us at the next city or beyond. This way, we'd suffer from lack of sleep all along, putting us at a disadvantage while she gains an advantage, making it easy for her to capture us. That's creating an illusion." Yun Qianyue explained slowly: "So these people are merely trying to unsettle our minds and won't take any action. You can rest assured."
"Alright!" Falling Flowers felt that the young master was right, nodded his head, and lay down to sleep.
Yun Qianyue closed the mirror and also lay down to sleep.
The night indeed went as Yun Qianyue predicted; all three slept very soundly without any abnormalities. Room Tian Character Two remained lit throughout the night, with guests downstairs keeping watch for a night.
Upon waking up the next day, Yun Qianyue felt refreshed and energized, as did Falling Flowers. Although Nan Lingrui's condition was worse than the two of them, he still looked more spirited compared to his pale face yesterday.
The three ate breakfast and left Room Tian Character One. On their way past Room Tian Character Two, Nan Lingrui suddenly pushed open the door; it wasn't locked, so he opened it gently. He saw a young man sitting at the table but only glanced at him before moving his gaze away to clasp shoulders with Yun Qianyue and say boastfully, "He's not as handsome as me!"
Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes; seeing the young man looking somewhat dazed at them, clearly unprepared for someone opening the door from outside, she pushed Nan Lingrui away with a slight smile. She nodded and said, "Yes, he's not as handsome."
Nan Lingrui lifted his brow arrogantly, walking much lighter-footed.
The three walked downstairs without caring about others' gazes.
Azure Pavilion watched the trio descend to the third floor and suddenly stood up from his seated position to walk towards the window.
"Young Master, do we intercept these three people" A voice said inside the room; it was an old man who inquired of Azure Pavilion.
"It's likely futile. Send a message to Lady Blue and inform her that they've left for Lan City," Azure Pavilion said softly as he continued watching out the window, his gaze following the three figures who soon exited Fragrant Drunkenness Inn and rode northward with their horses.
"Yes!" The old man lowered his head.
"Also, give orders to start our journey back to the Cang family," Cang Ting said.
The old man was taken aback. Looking at Cang Ting's back, he asked in surprise, "Young Master, aren't you here to help Lord Lan According to the earlier arrangements, you were supposed to follow these people and attack them together with Lord Lan from both sides. Why are you going home now"
"Since it can’t be done, there’s no point in us going. It might as well be better to go home," Cang Ting said.
“There are only three of them. How could our Cang family and Lan family not intercept the three of them together” The old man frowned.
"They are indeed only three people, but since they entered the city yesterday, there have been more than a hundred people secretly protecting them in Qi City. They are also top-notch secret guards; we don't have a winning chance. Why waste our thoughts" Cang Ting said.
The old man was startled and looked at Cang Ting's back figure as he said, "Lord Lan mentioned that one of the people is the Wise Prince of Nan Liang. Who are the other two I can tell they are not ordinary people."
"Those two...," Cang Ting suddenly smiled faintly, “One of them looks quite similar to Young Master Hua and should be from their family, while the other one is hard to determine.”
The old man was puzzled. "Young Master can’t tell who that person is"
Cang Ting didn't respond and seemed unwilling to say more.
Seeing Cang Ting silent, the old man no longer asked questions and carried out his instructions accordingly.
The room became quiet. Cang Ting’s figure was concealed behind a curtain at the window. Suddenly, he spoke in an extremely low voice: "Who could it be Just some people one can’t provoke..."
After leaving Drunken Fragrance Building, Yun Qianmo and her two companions galloped out of the city and headed towards Lan City.
The journey was peaceful. By noon, they entered Lan City. Yun Qianmo did not plan to stop and continued at a gallop from the south gate towards the north gate.
Hua Luo naturally had no objections and followed behind Yun Qianmo. Nan Lingrui, however, protested, seeing that Drunken Fragrance Building was full of guests during lunch time. The smell of food wafted into his nostrils, making him complain about being hungry.
Yun Qianmo casually threw a steamed bun to Nan Lingrui without turning her head; the bun hit Nan Lingrui in the chest.
Nan Lingrui caught the bun with his hand and looked at Yun Qianmo in disbelief. "Little miss, you want me to eat this"
"If you don’t want to eat it, give it to Hua Luo!" Yun Qianmo did not look back at Nan Lingrui; her horse galloped on without slowing down as she passed by Drunken Fragrance Building. She thought that after Lan City, the next city would be Feng City, and they could reach Yun City before midnight if they crossed Feng City; then she would see Rong Jing, so a bit of hardship was nothing.
Nan Lingrui wanted to throw the bun away rather than give it to Hua Luo and hit Yun Qianmo’s head with it. But seeing that Drunken Fragrance Building had already fallen far behind during their conversation, he angrily took a huge bite from the bun in front of his mouth.
Seeing Nan Lingrui no longer complaining, Yun Qianmo smiled and threw another bun to Hua Luo while taking one for herself.
The three ate their buns with the wind blowing against them as they rode on horses, solving their lunch problem.
After leaving Lan City, they encountered no obstacles. By evening, they arrived at Feng City.
Yun Qianmo did not pause and threw another bun to Nan Lingrui before he could speak; this time it hit his mouth, stopping him from complaining.
Nan Lingrui grabbed the bun out of his mouth and angrily threw it away.
Ignoring Nan Lingrui, Yun Qianmo spurred her horse straight out of Feng City towards Yun City. Hua Luo still had no objections.
Nan Lingrui glared at Yun Qianyue's departing figure for a long time, grinding his teeth in frustration but feeling helpless.
Fengcheng was about 100 li away from Yuncheng and there was a small valley between the two cities. This valley was the only route connecting Fengcheng and Yuncheng.
By nightfall, they arrived at this small valley. The moonlight tonight was faint, as were the stars in the sky. The small valley was quiet, with the sound of three riders' hooves approaching.
As they reached the deepest part of the valley, arrows suddenly rained down from all four sides of the slope above them.
In an instant, Yun Qianyue reined in her horse and pulled Nan Lingrui's and Hua Luo's horses close to hers. She then used her energy to create a small protective circle around herself and her companions before the arrows arrived. The three people and their horses were protected; the arrows hit the shield and were repelled by the true qi.
Suddenly, there was a scream from atop the slope.
"Useless!" A low shout came from above the slope, "Set up a shield! Keep shooting arrows!"
After the command, another barrage of arrows rained down. After Yun Qianyue's true qi repelled them back, they struck a shield, making several clangs; no one screamed again.
"Your Excellency, this won't work! It seems these people have many arrows and your energy is being wasted. You should withdraw your energy now and let me handle it," Hua Luo said softly to Yun Qianyue.
"It's fine! We'll observe for a while; since Rong Jing has arranged protection for us, we'll wait a bit longer to see the situation." Yun Qianyue shook her head and looked up at the slope top. The command just now came from a man; she didn't know if he was part of Lan Yi's group.
"Give us the person lying on the horse! We'll immediately stop shooting arrows." Another low shout came from atop the slope, still from that same man.
Yun Qianyue glanced at Nan Lingrui. Seeing him in a fetal position on his horse, she thought he probably wouldn't even be able to fend off an attacker if someone held a sword to his neck right now. She didn't answer the man's question. As another wave of arrows approached, she suddenly used the break between barrages to leap from her seat and fly upwards for ten zhang high, knocking the barrage back again. At this moment in mid-air, the arrows followed her direction, bypassing the shield to strike those hiding behind it.
At that moment, someone leaped up from atop the slope. She wore a blue dress and jumped several zhang like Yun Qianyue, using true qi to deflect the arrows heading back towards the shield in an instant, protecting her men. Her movements were graceful and fluid, her martial arts truly beautiful.
Yun Qianyue praised her; she was indeed worthy of being the head of the Lan family; it seemed that a few days ago, she had been influenced by Nan Lingrui!
"Beauty Lan, I didn't know you wanted me so much that you'd ambush me here. You should've told me! Why shoot arrows at us secretly I was also thinking of you!" As soon as Nan Lingrui saw Lan Yi, his eyes lit up and he sat straight on the horse with perfect posture, all fatigue gone from his face as a charming smile spread across it.
Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes, thinking that Nan Lingrui was beyond help! Lan Yi had become his stimulant!
Lan Yi seemed to ignore Nan Lingrui's words and said to Yun Qianyue as she dodged the arrows and landed gracefully, "Miss Qianyue of the Yun王府 is indeed famous for a reason!"
Yun Qianyue didn't expect Lan Yi to recognize her; since Lan Yi had set up an ambush here but was some distance from Yuncheng, it seemed that she must have met with Night Tianyi first. Did she learn of Yun Qianyue's identity through him or did she deduce it herself She landed gracefully and sat back on her horse, smiling faintly, "The head of the Lan family among the Ten Recluses is also truly worthy!"
"Beauty Lan! Didn't you hear what I said" Nan Lingrui saw that he was being ignored by Lan Yi. Thinking about it, in just a few days, the woman who had been at a loss in Room 2 of the Heavenly Department Building had grown so capable and knew not to argue with her.
Lan Yi continued to ignore him and said to Yun Qianyue, "Miss Qianyue has excellent skills; she quietly stole the jade seal. I'm truly impressed."
"Head of the Lan family's praise is too kind! Thank you!" Yun Qianyue smiled.
"Hey, Beauty Lan, we had a drinking date before, how can you ignore me" Nan Lingrui glared at Lan Yi.
Lan Yi ignored him as usual and said to Yun Qianyue, "When I went to the Southern Frontier earlier, I wondered who sent such skilled people. It's actually Miss Qianyue of the Yun王府."
"My covert guard's injury was your doing, but he should have realized his own martial arts deficiency," Yun Qianyue was tight-lipped, her tone slightly mischievous, "But thankfully I got it back; thank you for your generous gift, Head of the Lan family."
"I set up this ambush to see how capable Miss Qianyue is after taking away the Southern Frontier's jade seal and also to gamble with you," Lan Yi ignored Yun Qianyue's last words about her generous gift and continued.
"Oh So it's all business then! Master Lan, please speak."
"I have a packet of Soul-destroying Fragrance here. The Soul-destroying Fragrance is a powder that my family specially developed to deal with people who practice martial arts; once I release this fragrance, you won't be able to resist it even if you close your breath and use internal energy." Lan Yi reached into her sleeve and took out a small cloth bag, raising it up as she said to Yun Qianmo: "We'll have a duel. If you win, I will let the three of you leave unharmed; I won't hold you accountable for the matter regarding the jade seal. Should you lose, he will stay behind." She then pointed at Nan Lingrui.
Yun Qianmo suddenly smiled and looked at Lan Yi: "Do you know who he is"
"I don't care who he is; in my eyes, he's just a dead man," said Lan Yi with clear hatred as she glanced at Nan Lingrui.
"Oh dear, Miss Lan has such venomous words. I'm currently very much alive and kicking; you shouldn’t say such things. Since we haven't completed any romantic affairs yet, how could I be dead Be careful not to become a widow," said Nan Lingrui indignantly.
"I’ll seal your mouth and prevent you from speaking first." He shot Lan Yi a glance and raised an eyebrow at Yun Qianmo. "How is that"
"No, it’s unacceptable!" Yun Qianmo shook her head. "After traveling such a long distance to come back, Master Lan's wager seems rather unfair!"
"You don’t believe you can win me" Lan Yi raised an eyebrow. "Miss Yun from the Cloud Manor is always fearless, even disregarding the emperor’s edict and daring to break his sword in front of all officials on the Golden Terrace. How could she be afraid of a small wager If it isn't fair, then so be it. But what can you do about it Right now, I have an advantageous position while you don’t. To get through this safely, you must accept the challenge. This world doesn’t always offer fairness."
"Master Lan is correct!" Yun Qianmo liked Lan Yi a little after hearing her speak; at least this woman was straightforward even when setting up an unfair wager. She smiled lightly, "It’s not that I’m afraid to accept it or scared of losing to you, but rather…" Her words were cut off halfway as she suddenly stopped, then looked past Lan Yi with a smile and said, "I don’t want to waste time because I miss someone!"
Lan Yi was taken aback; she hadn't expected Yun Qianmo's reason for this.
"You’re not too bad, you actually think of me," said a warm chuckle from behind Lan Yi. Before the laughter had completely faded away, she saw that the Soul-destroying Fragrance in Lan Yi’s hand flew out and landed behind her.
Lan Yi was shocked; she spun around quickly to look back. A person stood there who hadn’t been there a moment ago—a man dressed in silvery-white brocade robe with a slim, graceful figure that was almost ethereal. He looked at Lan Yi with gentle eyes as he smiled over her shoulder. There was an indescribable grace and elegance about him. She immediately guessed his identity; it wasn't hard to recognize him. Few people knew this person in the world, but if he appeared before others, there were very few who wouldn’t recognize him. "Prince Jing of Yong王府"
Rong Jing’s jade-like hand weighed the cloth bag and gave Lan Yi a cold smile. "Such things are harmful to others; Master Lan had better refrain from bringing them out." Then, without looking at Lan Yi anymore, he spoke softly to Yun Qianmo, "Why do you still stand there Come over! Do you really want to have a duel with her"
"Of course not!" Yun Qianmo shook her head and urged her horse up the slope.
Nan Lingrui and Hua Luo immediately followed behind her.
The people from the Lan family who had been hiding on the slope looked at Lan Yi, waiting for her to give orders; however, she didn't obstruct them anymore.
Yun Qianmo rode up the slope to Rong Jing and instead of dismounting hastily, she sat upright on the horse looking at him. Rong Jing also looked at Yun Qianmo; their eyes met, though to outsiders they seemed calm, but deep in their gazes was a strong yearning that swirled for a moment before Yun Qianmo suddenly slid off her horse and quickly walked over, hugging Rong Jing’s waist with both hands and pressing her body close to his. She spoke softly: "Rong Jing, I’m starving and exhausted; you have to make up for it."
Rong Jing smiled and held Yun Qianmo's slender waist gently, his voice soft yet filled with laughter. "Alright, I’ll compensate you!"
